39 Watermill Towd Road
Water Mill, New York

Composer Reuben Butchart teams up with acclaimed poet John Carroll and six of New York City's most eclectic multi-instrumentalists to develop and record a contemporary art song cycle for cross-cultural chamber orchestra, electronics, computer sampling, and voices. For this Watermill Residency, poems by Carroll will be shaped into new song forms by Butchart. Then the core group of multi-instrumentalists will develop the sound and arrangements of the songs through improvisation and performance of pre-notated music phrases. By utilizing computer software and electronic sound processing, elements will be recorded and reshaped.
