The acclaimed Corporeal Mime artist will perform material from her Three Pillar Project, in which she is reviving and documenting historical Corporeal Mime pieces, including two by Etienne Decroux, the originator of the field. Luyten's (and Decroux's) discipline is a reactionary form of theater with a specific and unique vocabulary for the articulation of the body. The Corporeal Mime actor strives to embody thought, and the drama expressed in Corporeal Mime is decidedly non-situational and nonlinear: there is no plot, no sequence of events and no character portrayed. Luyten's current work at Watermill includes a workshop for children.
