RoseLee Goldberg presents PERFORMA

Saturday, August 5
5:00 pm

Watermill Center Artistic Director Robert Wilson is pleased to announce a series of residencies at The Watermill Center by artists who have received PERFORMA Commissions for PERFORMA07, the second biennial of visual art performance. PERFORMA07 will take place in New York City from November 1-21, 2007. To inaugurate this collaboration, Robert Wilson, the Board of Directors of PERFORMA, and the Watermill Center invite you to a presentation by RoseLee Goldberg, Director of PERFORMA. PERFORMA, a non-profit multidisciplinary arts organization established by RoseLee Goldberg in 2004, is dedicated to exploring the critical role of live performance in the history of twentieth century art and to encouraging new directions in performance for the twenty-first century.

The PERFORMA Commissions program originates new productions and supports artists in the creation of exceptional multimedia performances. PERFORMA works with artists from conceptualization to presentation, providing financial and production support and organizing international tours after the work's PERFORMA premiere. PERFORMA also presents lectures, panel discussions, and workshops on an ongoing basis that explore critical issues surrounding performance and its relationship to the museum, gallery, and collector. PERFORMA's Not For Sale symposia series is co-sponsored by New York University. An upcoming series of publications will document the PERFORMA biennials and illuminate the essential role of performance in the history of art, as well as its enormous significance in the international world of contemporary art today.
