The Watermill Center is pleased to announce an open rehearsal of a work-in-progress by the Center’s inaugural artists-in-residence. The South Wing will rehearse their new translation of Terayama Shuji’s 1960s rock & roll film Death in the Fields (Denen ni Shisu), a coming-of-age tale about an adolescent runaway in WWII Japan as remembered by himself 20 years later during Japan’s post-war reconstruction era. The South Wing mounts its premiere run of Death in Vacant Lot! at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Swing Space at 15 Nassau Street in Manhattan from October 4-14. Watermill Summer Program alumni include Nixon Beltran, Ivana Catanese, Nazanin Fakoor, Mariano Marquez, Carlos Soto, Kameron Steele, and Kali Vermes.
