Theater Workshops

RHINOCEROS
A classic play by Eugene Ionesco will be directed by Robert Wilson for the National Theater “Marin Sorescu” in Craiova / Romania in 2014.

PUSHKIN’S FAIRY TALES (working title)
A piece based on a selection of XIX century Russian writer’s stories is commissioned and produced by the Theater of Nations in  Moscow / Russia. Premiere scheduled for 2015.

THE BLACK RIDER
To prepare revival for US and German tour of one of the most renowned plays created by Robert Wilson, Tom Waits and William Burroughs.

MONSTERS OF GRACE
A workshop to create a radio play by Robert Wilson and produced  by SWR and (hr) Broadcasting Companies in Germany. Public recording session took place in November 2013 at the ZKM Karlsruhe.

BONNIE AND CLYDE (working title)
Another collaboration of Robert Wilson and Tom Waits to create a play based on a story of the legendary outlaws. Producer: Nicolai Vemming in Copenhagen, Denmark. Opening November, 2014.

I LA GALIGO
Revival and restaging of the acclaimed Indonesian epic work to be staged in Brasil and produced by Change Performing Arts.

ROUND 2
A dramaturgical and staging workshop lead by director Charles Chemin of a new large-scale collaborative performance piece that will be a cross portrait of several woman artists based on Sophia Calle’s, Gertrude Stein’s and Edourard Levé’s experiments about non-narrative portraits of people.  Round 2 will premiere next season in Paris.

Opera Workshops

LA TRAVIATA
By Francesco Maria Piave and Giuseppe Verdi. Robert Wilson will be directing this opera for Teatro Real in Madrid, Spain. Opening in April 2015.

DREAM OF THE RED CHAMBER
Robert Wilson will direct this new opera by Bright Sheng with libretto by  David Henry Hwang based on the eponymous Chinese classical novel. Opening in 2016 at the San Francisco Opera, CA, USA.

Visual Arts Workshops

YEREVAN SQUARE
A workshop to create an architecture and design concept for a public square in the Armenian capital, previewing at the Venice Biennale. Realised in  partnership with: mossessian & partners, Michel Mossessian, London, UK.

ILLYCAFFÈ ESPRESSO CUP
Design workshop commissioned by illycaffè S.p.A. in Trieste, Italy.

Other Workshops

ART AND SCIENCE, Insights into Consciousness.
The fourth annual workshop brought together a new group of exceptionally merited scientists and artists in an inspirational setting to foster an interdisciplinary discussion about consciousness. This year’s workshop was in honor of Dan Stern, prominent psychoanalytic theorist, who passed away this past fall.   The workshop is generously supported by the Mortimer D. Sackler Family Foundation.
