Watermill Alum, Ryder Cooley will present a selection of slides and music/performance videos excerpted from her portfolio of inter-disciplinary work. She will also facilitate a conversation about how to survive financially and spiritually as independent artists/musicians in an increasingly privatized, product driven and ecologically/politically devastating corporate America.

Ryder Cooley has studied, collaborated, performed and exhibited nationally and internationally at numerous esteemed institutions including: Lumberyard Performing Arts in Catskill NY, the Robert Wilson Watermill Center, MOMA PS1, Governors Island, Dixon Place, White Box and Exit Art galleries in NYC, Basilica & Hudson Hall in Hudson NY, Proctors Mainstage in Schenectady NY, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and Theater Artaud in San Francisco, El Visio Theater in Mexico City, Pan American Art Projects in Miami, the McDowell Colony in New Hampshire, Yaddo & Preservation Hall in Saratoga NY and public art projects in Indonesia, El Salvador, France and the Czech Republic. She holds an MFA in Integrated Electronic Arts from the IEar Program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an MA from SUNY Albany and a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. She is currently based in Hudson NY, where she performs with her band Dust Bowl Faeries and with Hazel, a disembodied taxidermy ram who is symbolically resurrected through performance. Ryder and Hazel host a renowned Open Mic at Club Helsinki in Hudson NY, and Ryder performs, collaborates and records with a number of other artists and bands including Rasputina.
