In Process @ The Watermill Center is our ongoing series of open rehearsals, workshops, artist talks and studio visits that invite the community to engage with the work of our international Artists-in-Residence.

The Watermill Center invites audiences of all ages and backgrounds to gain unique insight into the creative process of artists, cultivating an understanding of how artists from across the globe develop new work.

In Process allows direct engagement between the community and our Artists-in-Residence in the midst of their residency, giving them the opportunity to present and receive feedback on their work, and continue the development process throughout the remainder of their stay.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Jeffrey Perkins is a queer poet who was raised on a farm in rural New Hampshire. He earned his BA from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana in Peace and Global Studies and his MA in American Studies from University of Massachusetts Boston. He received his MFA in Poetry from Bennington College where he was the recipient of the Jane Kenyon Memorial Scholarship. His poems have been published in Tupelo Quarterly, The Adroit Journal, Memorious, Rhino, The Cortland Reviewand The Massachusetts Review, among other journals.

2019 Inga Maren Otto Fellow, Lars Daniel Rehn (b. 1974, Sweden) is a visual artist, noted for his humorous and detailed paintings depicting a world from a rather dystopic perspective.

Kirk Knight is an American RIAA certified record producer, rapper and songwriter from Brooklyn, NY. His solo debut project ​Late Knight Special​ was released in October 2015 and was followed up by his latest album, I​IWII. H​e discovered the production program FL Studio while attending Erasmus High School, and immediately began putting it to serious, structured use. He was encouraged by his brother, who suggested he study artists like Jay-Z and MF Doom, and by the friends he had met in middle school who were already carving out a lane as prodigious rap talents which include the platinum recording artist, Joey Bada$$. Now, the 4x producer is working with producer Adrian Lau, Matt Marvin (of Phony Ppl) and The Watermill Center to present his latest EP to the world.

Watermill’s mission is to provide artists and thinkers the opportunity to focus on the development of their work and practice. Artists-in-Residence have gone on to perform at venues and festivals including the New Museum, Roulette, PS122, American Realness, Clocktower Gallery, Performa, Vienna’s Donaufestival, Kampnagel in Hamburg, CPR – Center for Performance Research, and the Baryshnikov Arts Center.
