Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, one of the best-known members of Russian feminist art collective Pussy Riot, is known for her dissident “performances” and indictments of Putin’s autocratic regime. After spending 21 months in jails and Siberian labor camps on charges of “hooliganism” following a 2012 performance that criticized President Vladimir V. Putin, she is dedicating herself to human rights and political activism, exposing the dehumanizing conditions of Russian prisons. With characteristic dark humor and defiance, Tolokonnikova reveals her ongoing fight against authoritarianism in Russia, state corruption, unjust imprisonment, and the truths that the Russian government is trying to bury.
