histories is an experimental documentary project in which Zeinab Shahidi Marnani conducts a series of interviews about the controversial origin of her last name.

“An environment has been constructed by the artist in which an audience experiences how an individuals memory subjectively creates and passes on the narratives of politics, faith, death, familial relations and the source and meaning of ones own name – in this case the name of the artist.” – Noah Khoshbin

Zeinab Shahidi Marnani (b. 1983 in Isfahan, Iran) lives and works in Tehran and New York. She holds a MFA in sculpture from Yale School of Art.
