New York City–based dancer, performer, teacher, Limón reconstructor and coach Kristen Foote is originally from Toronto, Canada, and joined the Limón Dance Company in 2000 and Dance Heginbotham in 2011. A principal dancer in each of these companies, she has performed as a soloist in roles by many noted choreographers including José Limón, Isadora Duncan, Doris Humphrey, Anna Sokolow, Jiří Kylián, Donald McKayle, Lar Lubovitch, Rodrigo Pederneiras, Susanne Linke, Murray Louis, Adam Hougland, Jonathan Fredrickson, and John Heginbotham.

Her training began in Toronto where she studied ballet, tap, and jazz before joining the the international touring pre-professional company that is now called the Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre (CCDT). It was with CCDT that she began her training in the Limón technique.

Hailed by the New York Times as “marvelously versatile” and “especially captivating”, Foote has been recognized by Dance Magazine as one of their “Top 25 To Watch” in 2005, as one of the “Most Amazing Performers” of 2010, and was a “Featured Artist” during 2011.

Ms. Foote has also performed with Mark Morris Dance Group, has performed as a lead dancer in music videos, was a Radio City Rockette and has been a member of AUSTERLAND and Pajarillo Pinta’o. She was a guest artist with the Yard, Thang Dao Dance Theater, Riedel Dance Theater and with Catherine Gallant & Dancers.

A teacher of Limón master classes and workshops, Ms.Foote re-stages Limón repertory across the U.S., Canada and Europe. She is also a Pilates instructor, certified at the Kane School of Core Integration in 2009.
