Saskia Friedrich was born in Germany and moved to New York City as a teenager. Friedrich immersed herself in the study of dance, acting, Raga music and the graffiti and the music and club scene of NYC and soon visual art. After graduating from SVA she exhibited in various venues curated by Kenny Schachter and Lisa Ryter and in group shows at Paula Cooper Gallery, Achim Kubinsky and Willoughby Sharp Gallery, among others.

Recently she has shown in the Parrish Art Museum, Tripoli Gallery, Parrish Road Show and the Uranian Phalanstery. She is involved in the Sufi tradition of whirling and dreams of floating cities, biostructures, indigenous mind and permaculture.

In Process @ The Watermill Center invites the community to engage with our Artists-in-Residence on Saturday afternoons through open rehearsals, workshops, studio visits, lectures or artist talks.

Watermill’s mission is to provide artists and thinkers the opportunity to focus on the development of their work and practice. Artists-in-Residence have gone on to perform at venues and festivals including the New Museum, Roulette, PS122, American Realness, Clocktower Gallery, Performa, Vienna’s Donaufestival, Kampnagel in Hamburg, CPR – Center for Performance Research, and the Baryshnikov Arts Center.
