The 2026 (International Summer Program) brings together 30 artists from around the world for four weeks of creative exchange at The Watermill Center. Working across music, dance, visual art, performance art, theater, circus, design, and more, this year’s cohort reflects the interdisciplinary spirit that has shaped Watermill since its founding.
While in residence, the artists will share practices, explore new ideas, and develop original, site-responsive works to be presented at LIMITLESS TIME, an immersive festival celebrating Robert Wilson’s expansive vision and enduring influence. Together, they become part of Watermill’s living legacy: a global community of artists with a shared commitment to experimentation, collaboration, and invention.

A workshop led by two longtime Robert Wilson’s collaborators and Watermill alumni that explores the legacy of Robert Wilson and The Watermill Center. Drawing on archival research, facilitated discussions, choreography and movement practice, direct engagement with Wilson’s collection, the workshop invites participants to examine the ideas, methods, and collaborative spirit that continue to shape the Watermill Center.

A restaging workshop of Robert Wilson’s iconic performance, originally premiered in 1977, reimagined by Charles Chemin for The Watermill Center. Based on the original production by Robert Wilson and Lucinda Childs, the work is now performed by Christopher Nell and Julie Shanahan, with set design collaboration by Annick Lavallée-Benny.
