The Watermill Center is pleased to announce East Hampton based artist John Messinger: In Process at the Watermill Center Saturday December 15th. Current artist in residence at The Watermill Center, John Messinger, will install in the Center studios his most recent series, #nofilter, created during his residency. The newly conceived project will be on display Saturday, December 15th from 3pm to 6pm in the studios of The Watermill Center. The current project brings into question the evolving nature of the photograph amidst the ubiquity and proliferation of the digital image.

John Messinger is further exploring the creation of large-scale, site-specific, photographic tapestries that he began experimenting with one year ago. Each tapestry is composed of hundreds of individual rectangular 3.25 x 4.25 Fuji instant photographs created using a Polaroid Land Camera. As each instant photograph is a unique image, each final work is an original one of one.

We invite you to browse John’s work and join him for a one-on-one conversation about his process on December 15th from 3pm-6pm. A reception will follow the opening.
