Join The Watermill Center from January 23-25 as we invite our dear friends and supporters to celebrate the world premiere of Händel’s DER MESSIAS, arranged by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and directed for the first time by Robert Wilson. The work will open Thursday, January 23 at Salzburg’s Haus für Mozart, coinciding with the commencement of the city’s renowned Mozart Week Festival.

The weekend will feature not just one, but two special Robert Wilson openings. Following DER MESSIAS, Wilson will showcase a brand new series of drawings, presented by Thaddaeus Ropac at Villa Kast, opening on Saturday, January 25.

Guests will enjoy:

  • a special post-show reception with the cast and crew of DER MESSIAS
  • touring Watermill alum Marianne Vlaschits’ current exhibition at a local gallery
  • an afternoon in the countryside with Austrian artist Johann Weyringer
  • an intimate text-based performance by Marta Navaridas (Spain) and Alex Deutinger (Austria)
