Victoria Newhouse will give a multimedia presentation of unconventional spaces that are competing with traditional opera houses and concert halls for classical music performances. She will review the liabilities of these new performance spaces—the cost of construction, maintenance and programming, difficulty in attracting audiences, etc. The talk will be followed by a discussion of the pros and cons of non-purpose built theaters.
